1. Squaw Valley just saw the biggest storm of the season!
Squaw Valley has received over 8 feet of snow in 7 days. Don't wait another minute, now is the time to reserve your place on the start list for the Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR National Championships. The event provides racers and guests with the most economical way to experience the Olympic Valley. Your entry provides access to discounted lift tickets and lodging, an opening ceremony celebration, a hosted lunch, an awards reception, a sponsor village and live music daily. Look at the schedule to see the details.
2. Incredible NASTAR National Pacesetters
The U.S. Ski Team has produced some of the world's best ski racers and many call Squaw Valley home. Register today to race and celebrate with Julia Mancuso, Daron Rahlves, Tamara McKinney, Travis Ganong, Marco Sullivan and Bill Hudson. In addition, World and Olympic Champion Ted Ligety will be at Squaw as well as NASTAR legends AJ Kitt and Claire Brown. The Olympic Valley is filled with ski racing legends so be prepared to rub elbows with ski racing's elite.
Squaw Valley has exciting race venues that will suit every racer's ability.
Julia's Gold: The venue is at the bottom of the mountain and provides a challenging start with more moderate terrain on the bottom of the course. The finish area is a short distance from the sponsor village and the main stage so spectators and racers will be close to the action in the base village. Julia's Gold will be the race venue for the NASTAR slalom on Wednesday, the Team Races on Thursday and the Race of Champions on Sunday. Julia's will have two race venues on Friday and Saturday for the National Championship races. The Platinum Division will race on Julia's Gold C (I) and Gold Division racers will compete on Julia's Gold C (II).
Killy's Run: There will be two races on this venue. The younger and more veteran Platinum and Gold Division racers will compete on Killy's I and Silver Division racers will compete on Killy's II.
The Racers Trail: This run will host the Bronze Division and the adaptive racers.
Eagle Pass: The public NASTAR venue where the most senior racers and the youngest racers will compete. In addition, the Snowboard Division will race on Eagle Pass on a snowboard specific course.
4. International Skiing History Association Awards Dinner
Celebrate 50 years of NASTAR racing at the ISHA's awards dinner at the Olympic Village Dining Hall. All NASTAR registrants are cordially invited to attend the cash-bar birthday party, beginning at 5:00pm. The real event kicks off at 6:30pm, when ISHA opens its 26th Annual Awards Banquet (purchase tickets here). In addition to NASTAR, the banquet honors the year’s best creative works of ski history, including books, films, websites and other media projects.
