NASTAR season is upon us! It’s time to start wrapping your head around what gear you’ll need for the season ahead, start texting your buddies and line up those beer league teams for the dark days of winter. Not to mention, marking your calendar for the NASTAR Regional and National events you will be attending this season.

We’re thrilled to announce that the Midwest Regional Championships will be held at Crystal Mountain, Michigan this season! Pacesetter and Alpine Ski Racing Olympian, Marco Sullivan will be out setting the pace for everyone at Crystal Mountain. If you’re a local Midwesterner, reserve your spot and signup early.

Windham Mountain, New York will be hosting the Eastern Regional Championships January 26 & 27. Get your friends, family and racing buddies together and meet Marco Sullivan in the Catskills for a weekend fast skiing, music, prizes and fun!

With the new season upon us, we’re incredibly excited to welcome our National Pacesetters and current and past U.S. Ski Team members Ryan Cochran-Siegle, Laurenne Ross, Andrew Weibrecht, Daron Rahlves and Marco Sullivan to the NASTAR team. Ross, hailing from Bend, Ore, worked hard all last season to make the 2018 Olympic team after a knee injury and she is a force to be reckoned with. Cochran-Siegle, a member of the famous skiing Cochran family, made his first World Cup giant slalom debut in 2016 and ended up grabbing three top five finishes at the U.S. Alpine Championships in Sun Valley, ID. Weibrecht retired this season but not after adding “three-time Olympian” to his resumé. From Lake Placid, NY, Weibrecht knows how to bring the intensity on a race course. Lake Tahoe natives Marco Sullivan and Daron Rahlves are both back for more NASTAR this year and we all know both of those speed racer’s resumés speak for themselves.

I am very excited to be partnering with NASTAR as one of their official pacesetters for this upcoming season,” said Cochran-Siegle. “Growing up, I can remember battling it out with my friends racing NASTAR, and thought how cool it was to be ranked against some of the top American racers of that time. It’s a great opportunity to join forces with them now, and to help continue to create access into the sport of ski racing for all individuals.”

These U.S. Ski Team members and alum will be setting pace for us all season long at Pacesetting Trials, Regional Championships and the Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR National Championships at Squaw Valley!

Because the season’s just around the corner, we want to make sure you’re familiar with the NASTAR website. We’ve outlined a mini-roadmap below that takes you through a few of the features and resources you can use on our site.

“We continue to improve Nastar so that we can provide more exciting head-to-head handicapped racing and integrate a wider variety of races into the platform to better connect alpine racers across the country,” explained NASTAR Director, Bill Madsen.

The NASTAR website is a tool for you to use to explore your season options that lay ahead. From Championship events to Pacesetting Trials, you can explore dates, locations, and details here.

Another tool to help you stay in the know about all things NASTAR this season is to sign up for our newsletter, if you are not already registered. All season long, we send a newsletter bi-weekly with relevant stories and news to keep you up to speed (or should we say, moving forward in an athletic stance…).
